We Catholics within the DC area have been making known to the chancery and others our concern and dismay regarding questionable occurrences within the Archdiocese. To date, our activities include:

Picketing the appearance of John Sweeney at the February 2003 Catholic Charities Gala. Mr. Sweeney is the president of the AFL-CIO, which has named as a goal the inclusion of contraception coverage in group health plans. Moreover, the AFL-CIO supports pro-abortion candidates to office.

Launching a telephone, fax and email campaign to successfully effect the “disinvitation” of pro-abortion Congresswoman Connie Morella as a speaker at St Mary’s in Rockville. The occasion was the first anniversary of the 9/11 attacks.

Pickets of a girls’ Catholic high school to protest the selection of pro-abortion women as commencement speakers (Kathleen Kennedy Townsend and Sandra Day O’Connor).

Successful phone/email campaign to have pro-abortion politicians (Chris Van Hollen, US Congressman and Mike Miller, MD Senator) disinvited as speakers at local Catholic Businessmen’s Network breakfasts (Montgomery and Prince George’s counties).
